My personal go to summer uniform is typically some type of T-shirt dress. Considering I live in Texas, the heat can get pretty unbearable and these are cool, easy to throw on over a swimsuit and no effort required, making it the perfect outfit choice. I don’t really accessorize them, due to the simple nature of the dress, but I do like to add some sassy yet practical footwear! I have rounded up my favorite summer sandal picks…ENJOY!!!
One of my favorite things about Easter, outside of its religious stance, is the fact that everyone dresses up in their NEW dresses! This means, no complaining from Mr. Holt when I bring home a fun girly, floral church dress. I have rounded up my favorites for this spring and trying to stay within a reasonable budget. Happy Shopping!
Or it will be soon, so I thought I would share some of my favorites!
1- These glasses are from Anthropologie and I LOVE them. They are a little on the pricey side, but I love the vintage feel. They almost look like lace. Also, they are not too Valentines-ish, so could be used throughout the year.
2- Bath & Body Works candles. The sweet pink shade and scent make this a perfect a Valentine’s Day purchase.
3- Miss Dior perfume. This is my signature scent, but I love how feminine the bottle is, the light pink shade as well as a sexy scent. This is perfect for the Valentine’s Day date!
4- NARS in heat wave. While we are on the topic of date night, I have every intention to rock the red lip. While also a little pricey for lipstick, this has hands down been my best beauty buy EVER.
5- A festive garland. This is from Steph Loves Ben Etsy shop. I love the look with the peach pop of color being so unexpected and price effective at $18. I highly recommend this shop, she turns out great products and quick shipping.
6- I picked these up at Target last week. I pave been obsessed with hot coco this winter not why not jazz it up Valentine’s Day style with pink heart shaped marshmallows.
This was a much simpler task than fall/winter given that less clothing is needed, as well as accessories. Without further delay…
Again, this is for about 6 months and I am aim to be under 30 pieces ( not including work clothes).
First, I included soon coming updates to my summer/spring makeup capsule, which will be almost complete I just have 1 more purchase to make.
So let’s talk about my reasoning. For my everyday wear I want to be able to mix and match neutrals, but I lean more towards navy and and soft beiges and grays. Obviously everyone needs some soft cotton tees. These are from Gap and Banana Republic. The soft kaki and navy bottoms match. I am loving the clean lines of the shorts and the ladylike scallop of the skirt. Both are from J Crew Factory.
My favorite part is the casual dresses. I live in these. I do want to add the Reece dress from Sonnet James in navy/white. It is my bday gift from my hubby…I am so excited! When purchasing these, again, I look for neutral colors, at modest lengths and a nice breezy cotton blend. They are fantastic for a trip to target, or walking the dog.
I also plan plan to spend some down time at the pool so I scouted a few cute one pieces with big summer hats to protect from the sun. No one needs more wrinkles. Also, a comfy, cute and neutral cover up is needed. I prefer a light maxi in cool tones. This grey one is from Dillard’s and I LOVE it!
For brunches, lunches and casual day outings, simple maxi dresses are the way to go in the TX heat. I like solids, and then add some metallic accents for some pop. White and black all day long for this girl. The best place for maxis I have found is hands down Nordstroms Rack. They are a little pricier, but the quality is fantastic.
For date nights and evenings out I like to have a go to outfit or two. Again, I am all about the maxi dress here. The white one has interesting straps with a silver metallic embellishments. If you don’t know about Gilt, it is the best! And just for fun, throwing in a clean and bold stripe.
No no matter the occasion, I am a tote purse kind of gal in the summer. Clean and structured. These are investments for me because they never go out of style and are practical for every occasion. Also, I stay neutral with my sandals, but I am all about the flats these days. I am entering a stage of life where heels just don’t fit my lifestyle anymore. I never thought I’d see the day, but it is here. The most important part of a summer wardrobe in my opinion is the right sunglasses. I like a good black pair and a good tortoise pair as well. Everyone also needs a cheap pair for the pool.
Now all we need is that beautiful Texas sunshine.
Work eddition. Tomorrow, I will be traveling to Boston, which I love due to all the history that we just don’t have in Dallas, but for my job… Wan wan…. 😦 Anyways, here is my essential packing list for the traveling girl. Keep in mind, we want everything in 1 carry on size bag!
– Jacket ( wear this on the pane)
– Blouses, I try to take silk blend blouses, so they do not wrinkle and look feminine but professional and can also be worn during more casual outings or with a suit/blazer
– Suit staples: 1 jacket, 1 pant, 1 skirt, which all match
– Panty hose ( hello it is FREAKING cold there). ALWAYS take 2 pairs…you never know when one will get a run.
– Shoes: black pumps, 1 pair of riding boots ( wear on the plane)
– Casual wear: 1 pair of leggings, 1 pair of jeans( wear these on the plane)
– Accessories: keep these to a maximum of 5 items : I choose 3 necklaces, 1 pair of earrings and 1 scarf. The key here is to stay neutral
– Other essentials are the right suitcase and a neutral purse (that can function as a lap top bag too!)
