This was a much simpler task than fall/winter given that less clothing is needed, as well as accessories. Without further delay…
Again, this is for about 6 months and I am aim to be under 30 pieces ( not including work clothes).
First, I included soon coming updates to my summer/spring makeup capsule, which will be almost complete I just have 1 more purchase to make.
So let’s talk about my reasoning. For my everyday wear I want to be able to mix and match neutrals, but I lean more towards navy and and soft beiges and grays. Obviously everyone needs some soft cotton tees. These are from Gap and Banana Republic. The soft kaki and navy bottoms match. I am loving the clean lines of the shorts and the ladylike scallop of the skirt. Both are from J Crew Factory.
My favorite part is the casual dresses. I live in these. I do want to add the Reece dress from Sonnet James in navy/white. It is my bday gift from my hubby…I am so excited! When purchasing these, again, I look for neutral colors, at modest lengths and a nice breezy cotton blend. They are fantastic for a trip to target, or walking the dog.
I also plan plan to spend some down time at the pool so I scouted a few cute one pieces with big summer hats to protect from the sun. No one needs more wrinkles. Also, a comfy, cute and neutral cover up is needed. I prefer a light maxi in cool tones. This grey one is from Dillard’s and I LOVE it!
For brunches, lunches and casual day outings, simple maxi dresses are the way to go in the TX heat. I like solids, and then add some metallic accents for some pop. White and black all day long for this girl. The best place for maxis I have found is hands down Nordstroms Rack. They are a little pricier, but the quality is fantastic.
For date nights and evenings out I like to have a go to outfit or two. Again, I am all about the maxi dress here. The white one has interesting straps with a silver metallic embellishments. If you don’t know about Gilt, it is the best! And just for fun, throwing in a clean and bold stripe.
No no matter the occasion, I am a tote purse kind of gal in the summer. Clean and structured. These are investments for me because they never go out of style and are practical for every occasion. Also, I stay neutral with my sandals, but I am all about the flats these days. I am entering a stage of life where heels just don’t fit my lifestyle anymore. I never thought I’d see the day, but it is here. The most important part of a summer wardrobe in my opinion is the right sunglasses. I like a good black pair and a good tortoise pair as well. Everyone also needs a cheap pair for the pool.
Now all we need is that beautiful Texas sunshine.
After further consideration, I have decided that our second contender was just one space too small ( no play room, 2nd living or study…we just needed 1 of these) and was a little concerned about the lack of closet storage. On a positive note, while visiting house 2, we found house 3, and more importantly FINALLY agreed on a neighborhood, which I will get to shortly, but first let us tour contender 3.
This is a bit darker for my tastes, but the bones are awesome and nothing needs to be fixed right away. My favorite part is that this home backs up to trees and a gentle creek, so pretty. Let me just tell you this kitchen I HUGE and to die for, but the problem is the whole house is huge, as in may be too huge for our undertaking. Is it possible to have too much house? On the other hand, it made us ask the question, will this be a five year house? A ten year house? A twenty year house? Just more to ponder.
No matter what, I considered today to be a huge win. We found a perfect community for our “future” family. If you are from DFW you may be familiar with Lantana. Homes here can range from $300k to $1.5M, so feeling pretty good about quality neighbors. Our current apartment is nice, but kind of neighbors the ghetto and it makes things a little uncomfortable and quite frankly makes me nervous at night. Maybe I just watch to much Gangland. We decided together that neighborhood and community would be the number one priority.
But, about this neighborhood…hello amenities. It has kick ass ( sorry mom) community pools, tennis courts, hiking trails, playgrounds, etc. More importantly is has a great on site day care facility, that is ranked in the top 5 in DFW and….wait for it… it sits on a golf course, which the Byron Nelson is played on…hello! I am in love!!!
If anyone lives there I would live an insiders opinion? I already scoped out the Wholefoods, HOMEGOODS and Target all in under 5 minutes drive as well as some fabulous shopping center complete with Barnes and Noble ( we like to go there for Starbucks and reading for a cheap date night) . But the feedback from neighbors was phenomenal…I am so freaking excited.
Overall, good , no GREAT weekend!
And have lots to share. First and foremost I will be 29 in 4 days, gulp!!! I might as well be thirty, it has been a little wake up call to get it moving so here are some updates…
To date, in regards to my 2015 goals, I have made progress but not quite where I want to be yet. As far as homes go here is our second contender. It sits in the 2nd highest ranked school district in DFW so big plus there, plus in an established neighborhood near a HOMEGOODS!
I am LOVING this kitchen, but the yard is teeny tiny and there is no play room. 😦
Moving right along, it has been 25 days since my last caffeinated beverage and I have pretty much kicked that habit to the curb, but instead have replaced it with cake pops…yikes. Next week I will find out my ranking at work and I am EXTREMELY hopeful to come in at the top 10% but more to come there.
On the baby front, not much to report. We do not fall in the 20% that conceive in their first cycle. I will admit I am a little disappointed. I assumed if I aligned everything, along with providing the optimal health conditions ( no alcohol, no caffeine, regular folic acid, etc.) I would easily conceive. Not so much the case. I will admit I had some tears, but realistically know it was a long shot. So back to it.
Anyways, if ever there was something to put things back into perspective for me it was seeing American Sniper. This is an excellent movie. It is a reminder of the sacrifice made by our armed forces. It renewed my appreciation as well as my patriotism. I feel so honored to be an American and so very thankful for the freedoms I enjoy in life and for those who make it possible.
Those are my ramblings for this evening….a new capsule for Spring/Summer coming soon.
And here are my CRAZY and WILD birthday plans. Not really, all I want is Sprinkles cupcakes for breakfast, a day of netflix watching Reign ( which is awesome if you haven’t seen it yet ) and a date with my hubby at the Olive Garden without complaints. The Olive Garden is at the top if our ” conflict” list, which may actually be a good thing, but bottom line….he HATES it, and I pretty much put it second in line to Disney World. So plan to take advantage of this on my birthday.
