DIY : At Home Art

Today was super fun in the Holt household, so thought I would share a few of the crafts happening around here.

Puppy Shirt for Beefcake

What you will need:

  • Xacto knife
  • Acrylic paint ( I prefer Martha Stewart for the colors)
  • T-shirt
  • Free form stencil paper ( Again, I prefer Martha Stewart brand)
  • Tape
  • something to put inside the T-shirt ( trash bag, card board, etc.)

Trace the letters onto the stencil kit, cut from the inside to create an opening for painting.  I choose to not cut the inside parts of the B or A and paint over in and I think it turned out okay.

Then tape ape letters to the shirt, but cake sure it is lined, otherwise paint will seep through.  Paint letters with any colors or designs.

Let dry, you may need multiple coats.

the end!

The Green Thumb

Some people are natural gardeners, but this girl missed out on the green thumb in life.  Sometimes, it seems like plants die if I even look at them.  However, we are starting to make progress.

It is always best if you have a furry helper!

Remember, those bowls I bought at the flea market a few weeks ago, referenced , now they are our planters.

We now total six plants an counting! 🙂

Banana Bread

Tonight, we made banana bread (yum)!  Just mix the following then bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour in a greased bread pan.

What you will need:

  • 2 cups brown rice flour
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 3 tbsp soy milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3  coconut oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

Clean Eating Options…

I think I have mentioned before, I LOVE smoothies.  Here is my latest and greatest concoction.  Blend the following:

  • 2 peaches- pitted and peeled
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • 1/3 cup unflavored Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 2 tbsp Goji powder
  • handful of ice cubes

Clean Eating

Lately, I cannot get enough smoothies! While, I would like say I am one of those women who juice everyday religiously, unfortunately I fall short…often.  But the berry blend as I like to call it goes a long way. Also, as an upcoming career gal this is a quick 2 min. prep time smoothie, while also helping clear skin.  I have been drinking these a lot over the past few weeks and REALLY notice it in my skin.  Just blend blue berries, strawberries, razzberries, soy milk ( I like vanilla flavored) , raw LOCAL honey ( wildflower is best if you have allergies) and a small handful of ice.

Clean Eating Options…

A walk thru tonight’s dinner and our new clean eating journey.  I have been reading, and quickly learning clean eating means something a little different to everyone.  What you will need…

  • Soy Milk
  •  Brown Rice Flour
  • Ground Flax Seed
  • Almond Oil
  • Himalayan Salt
  • Eggplant
  • Squash
  • Zucchini

Wash, dry and slice eggplant into thin circles.  Poke holes and then press pieces into flour.  Once finished place into freezer for 10 minutes.

While in freezer, mix squash, zucchini, Himalayan salt and almond oil in a small frying pan and place on low heat, until the eggplant is prepared (15 minutes).

Dip eggplant into soy milk then into flour mixture ( mix flour, flax seed and chia seed).  Place into large frying pan with almond oil.  Once browned flip sides.  Pieces will fall off and that is so normal.

Once finished lightly salt and place on paper towels to cool (5 minutes) then serve.

Some Clean Eating Options

Flavorless Greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and homemade granola.  To make granola simply combine the following ingredients and bake for 45 minutes on 250.

  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raw honey (wildflower if your have allergies)
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 almond oil
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 2 tbsp chia seed

Don’t forget to line your pan…lesson learned. 🙂

Rosemary, garlic and brown rice flour baked chicken with fresh broccoli with almond oil and pink salt. YUM!

And a fresh dessert… Just throw fresh watermelon, a handful of ice cubes, a tsp of raw sugar and juice 1/2 a Lemmon then blend.
